Juvenile Red Shouldered Hawk
This beautiful hawk, which is relatively rare for this area, is protecting his snake dinner by standing on it.
Yesterday evidently was Turtle Day at Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, as they were everywhere in the canals, sunning themselves in the warm sunlight. This is the first sighting this year for me and it's a very good sign that spring has either arrived or is very close to doing so.
River Otters Having a Great Time!
I love to find Otters in the wild, as they are so entertaining.... always on the move and playing with each other and at the same time, showing love to their family!
Dinner Time For This Great Blue Heron
Nature at work ....Taken at Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.
Peek a Boo, I see you, you little masked bandit Raccoon!!
This is the same tree where a Barn Owl was last week. Hopefully the owl wasn't sitting on a nest, as the raccoon would have eaten the eggs after chasing her away.
Bald Eagles Take a Break After A Hunt.
Our Nation's Symbol and soul mates, too. The Female (Right) has just caught a duck and has it in her talons.
Bringing Home The Dinner
I was very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time in order to capture this image.
Red Tail In Flight
I got this shot just after this Red Tail took to flight from a tree.
I'm Gettin' Out Of Here
Mr. Bittern thinks he's stealth by being very deliberate and slow to avoid me, but it didn't work. :-)
Female Red winged Blackbird
She seemed curious of what I was doing and just sat there and posed for me.
Retired and having a blast with wildlife and nature photography, not only around here but Oregon, Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons or anywhere else my travels take me. I also have a love for HDR photography and photographing old cars, farm implements, barns, houses, etc. I also have a huge interest in IR photography and light painting, although I haven't ventured into these worlds yet, but hopefully soon!
